The three African big cats are:
- African Lion (Panthera leo subspecies leo)
- African Leopard (Panthera pardus subspecies pardus)
- African Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus subspecies jubatus, soemmerringi and hecki)
All three of these wild cats also occur in Asia but in very small populations.
